TCO A.4 asks candidates to distinguish among behaviorism, the experimental analysis of behavior (EAB), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and professional practice guided by the science of behavior analysis -- four related but distinct terms that are frequently conflated.
Covers the foundational goals and philosophical assumptions of behavior analysis as a science, and the defining dimensions of applied behavior analysis -- TCO A.1, A.2, A.5, none of which are represented elsewhere in Fluency.
Know which philosophy of behaviorism treats private events (thoughts, feelings) as behavior subject to the same laws as public behavior, and which excludes them.
Is the consequence delivered by the behavior itself (automatic) or by another person's reaction (socially mediated)? A core TCO B.6 distinction that also drives function-based intervention selection.
Distinguishes behavior/response/response class from stimulus/stimulus class -- TCO B.1, B.2, foundational vocabulary not otherwise drilled in Fluency.
Covers behavioral momentum and response persistence, the matching law and response allocation, and imitation vs. observational learning -- TCO B.22-B.24.

Both can involve an aversive stimulus, but one decreases behavior and the other increases it -- a classic exam discrimination.

Continuous measurement captures every instance of the target dimension during the observation period; discontinuous measurement samples it -- TCO C.5, and the foundation for the interval-recording vs. time-sampling distinction below.
Covers graphing data to communicate quantitative relations and interpreting graphed data -- TCO C.10, C.11.
Partial-interval, whole-interval, and momentary time sampling are all discontinuous methods, but they score differently and over/underestimate true behavior in different directions -- TCO C.6, a classic exam discrimination.

Know how preference assessments differ from reinforcer assessments.

Discriminate operant extinction from classical (respondent) extinction, and distinguish both from related phenomena like extinction bursts and spontaneous recovery -- which are effects observed during/after extinction, not separate types of extinction.

Planning against side effects of reinforcement/extinction/punishment procedures (TCO H.4) is a different planning task from planning against the target behavior's return after it's already improved (TCO H.5) -- both use overlapping vocabulary, which is exactly why they get confused.
Covers writing observable/measurable intervention goals, recommending interventions based on assessment/evidence/preference/fit, and selecting a socially valid alternative behavior -- TCO H.1-H.3.
Was the intervention implemented as written, or do stakeholders find it acceptable and worthwhile? Two different, commonly confused quality checks.
